SuPEr GrAnOLA!!!!

Here is my FAVORITE Granola mix- sometimes I make it as is- and it is kind of sticky and gooey and delightful or sometimes I add a little more oil and bake longer and it is crunchy and heavenly! Either way it is yummy and great for you!
SupEr GraNoLA
4 cups oats- can use rolled or steel cut
2 cups wheat germ
1 cup each of almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, cashews, pistachios, puffed millet, puffed kamut, dried bluberries ( or cherries or currants, raisins etc..) add what YOU like here..
1/2 cup each of ground sesame and ground flax
2 tsp vanilla
2-4 tsp cinnamon-( to taste)
1/2 cup cold pressed olive oil
1 cup honey
Mix ingredients in a large bowl. Spread onto a large baking sheet (might need 2). Bake a t 325 for 20--25 min ( if you are going for crunchy I often up it to 350) Stir every 5 min or so. Cool and store in an airtight container. Serve with nutmilk or eat it plain! It is an awesome trailmix or cereal. For the kids I sometimes throw normal chocoalte chips in the mix- a cup of chips to all those fantastic nuts and seeds is a trade I would make any day! :)

It is a NEW MOON today which means I can start making professors! It is this pretty much cure all tonic that works great! You start it on the new moon- more exact the better and cure it until the full moon- during these moon phases the pulling forces on the earth are the strongest because the gravitational pull of the moon and sun are combined. It is a lovely mixture of garlic, onion, horseradish,ginger root and a few other things. It is great to have on hand and for any first aid kit- it keeps for years! For those wanting to come to the Oil/Herb class I will give you the recipe!!! The Healthy YOU classes are full- those not able to get in we will catch ya in the summer! Have a great day today!

Healthy You- Update!!!!

There has been a TON of interest- the class on the 19th is full but I am doing another class !!
NEXT CLASS- Thurs JAn 28th 6-8:30 .There are for only a few spots left in the last class SO- if you want to come let me know- camwatson@comcast.net
I want you to all KNOW this so you can DO this! :)
I will not do another healthy you class until May or June.
The Oils/ Herbs class will be in FEB
KIDS class in March and GRAINS class in April!

I am a Nurse - RN BSN ( I work at the U) and a Certified Foot Zonologist ( I zone peoples feet!)and so being I have a lot of medical background. I am teaching healthy cooking classes with a BIG emphasis on nutrition. This in depth class is about General nutrition, acid/ base balance, vitamins and minerals -how your body absorbs them and what they do for us and the most bioavailable form, nutrient density, harmful additives etc... A long with all this information I MAKE you a TON of Healthy Dishes using the methods and knowledge I just taught you. So you don't feel so overwhelmed and know that healthy food can still taste great!!! You take home a LOT of handouts and a Healthy You recipe book so you can get started!

I have had a lot of interest from people in other states and countries (yes- countries so cool!) Sooo..
I am thinking for those close or far who can't make it to the class to enjoy the food and friends but still want the knowledge I will email you all my notes and handouts and recipe book etc...
for 20$ ( sorry paypal charges fees had to up it a little) . Pay pal is up and running for this now! see the little button on the side? You can get any class notes- however I now need to convert all my notes so you might give me a week or so!
For ALL you green thumbs out there who can't wait to start your heirloom seeds- a friend showed me a GREAT site!! www.mysquarefootgarden.net - you can find frost dates, find your color ( it will make sense once you read the site) and THEN they will email you newsletters for your area- when to plant etc.. there is also some good recipes for compost and just a lot of good stuff!
You can start stuff inside in a month or so- can't wait!!!

WaTcH THis!

WaTcH ThiS MovIE!!! Sometimes people would rather not know because lets face it- ignorance can be bliss right. Well if you are one of those people don't watch this show because truly you will never look at dinner the same way again- but that is not bad! :) With anything Like this I always try to get both sides of the story then make the decsicion that is best for me and family- I encourage you to do the same. But it seems that right now most people only know one side of the story- I bet you didn't know that 70% of the comercial beef in america ( that was in 2007 I am sure it is higher now) is supplemented with filler- that is actually corn that has been washed in ammonia and ammonia hydroxide to kill
ecoli O157H7 that is getting in the meat supply- mostly because cows are fed corn now instead of grass ( they get fatter faster and it is cheaper with all the govt subsidies for corn) and when fed grass for 5 days they shed 80% OF THE ECOLI in their gut. That is the tip of the iceberg my friends... I know stuff like this can get controversial and I am not looking for a fight -I definately don't have all the answers- there are a lot of questions on both sides I am still trying to find answers to BUT the image that is conveyed to us about most all of the food we eat is not completely true- that I do know. I am just trying to let people know that there is usally always more to the story- so stop thinking that things are how they SEEM to be and find out for yourself what they really are and what is best for your family. What ever
IT is make sure you choose it-
don't let it just happen to you.

This movie brought up a lot of questions I had not really thought of before and I am glad to be made aware so now I can find answers. It made me really think about buying local
much more- I have always tried to do that but not to the extent I think I should now- I truly had no idea about a lot of stuff in the supermarket and I am actively trying to find this stuff out all the time! Here are a bunch of links that will help you find local growers and ranches where you can get healthy, organic, well treated food-

We are pretty lucky here in Utah because there are a TON of local farmers-

so get out there and support them!!

I am limiting it to 12 people per class- if there is a lot of interest I might do another one this month- In the coming months I will be doing another Grains class, an Oil Class- I teach you oils but also how to make your own and take home some seriously awesome ointment ( for lack of a better word) and a ton of other fun things, breakfast/lunch class (those meal times seem to be the toughest!) and kids class- food that kids will actually eat and like!
